History
HSR Europe started as Support Action to the EU Seventh Framework Programme, aimed to contribute to a roadmap for European Health Services Research (project acronym HSREPP, grant number 223248).
During the project period (2009-2011)
During the project period a number of activities were carried out, including the preparation of state-of-the-art reports and the organisation of an online consultation, clarifying policy-makers’ needs for HSR inputs. Key element of the HSREPP project was the preparation and organisation of a working conference, which took place at 8 and 9 April 2010 in The Hague. Since then a number of follow-up event have been organised. Detailed information of the working conference is available below.
Working Conference Health Services Research in Europe
8-9 April 2010 The Hague, the Netherlands.
A special working conference was dedicated to determining a roadmap for the future of health services research. The meeting was attended by about 350 researchers and policy makers from a little less than 40 countries, both European and from other regions. As a working conference, the emphasis was not on presentations but on discussion of topics of shared interest, with a mix of plenary sessions and decentralized debate sessions. Core of day one was a cluster of thematic workshops with overviews of the state-of-the-art, followed by carousel rounds of discussions on research priorities in main areas of HSR. Day 2 addressed the future of health services research and how to improve its contribution to the health policy process. Focus was on five different elements that need to be addressed: 1) Developing HSR data and methods, 2) Capacity-building of policy and research, 3) Funding and commissioning across Europe, 4) How to organise and support the HSR community, and 5) Increasing impact of HSR in policy.
We would like to thank all speakers, conference participants, country consultants and SAC members for all their contributions before and during the conference.
